Some interesting thoughts... JenzyFrenzy, I'd never heard Lent explained like that. Food for thought.

BexAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8508660596475538243.post-56818254083985450622010-02-24T20:25:40.028-05:002010-02-24T20:25:40.028-05:00I read a great verse in Isaiah about, well, not te...I read a great verse in Isaiah about, well, not technically about Lent...but about fasting in general, and I would say that Lent is a fast...under the heading of "true fasting" (Isaiah 58:1-10). Basically, yes, growing closer to God - and also giving up selfish things and instead using that time or money or whatever to pursue social justice and a relationship with God. I love how you pointed out that it's not just about giving something up - it's not that we're suffering our way to righteousness, but instead that by giving up the things that hold us back, we can grow!
(that all sounds very Christian-ese and I kind of hate it...but anyway...)jenzyfrenzyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09142149692042712752noreply@blogger.com
